New tires wearing out!

Featured Replies

Put new tires on the 97 Legacy at the beginning of summer.the rears are already more than half worn out on the inside with cupping and scaloped edges.the fronts still look real nice.the car is AWD 5 speed.what could be causing this?tire brand is General Altimax.need to figure this out!tires are exspensive!

Most likely an alignment issue.

Could be weak struts causing the tore to bounce going down the road.

But likely an alignment.

rear wheels toed out.

And General tires suck.

Were the tires that you replaced at the beginning of summer wearing out in the same manner as what you are seeing on the rear tires right now? If so, the tire shop should have given you notice of this, and as others have said, advised you getting an alignment or strut replacement, before installing new tires. That is what my tire shop has done.
