October 18, 20178 yr Hi All, New to the forum and ready to buy my 1st Subie. I was told by the dealer that I cannot buy a Gold Plus 10yr/100k extended warranty if the car has been certified 7yr/100k drivetrain. So I asked if they could remove the CPO certification so that I could add the extended warranty. Does anyone know if this can be done? I am buying this car for me, but in 6 or 7 years it will go to the kids and I'd like to have it covered bumper-to-bumber the entire time we have it. Thanks in advance, Moose
October 18, 20178 yr How many miles per year do you normally put on a car? The time length of the warranty doesn't matter if you exceed the 100k mile mark the warranty coverage stops at that point anyway.
October 18, 20178 yr Author I figure I will put about 8-9k per year, so the 10yr/100k will be perfect The inservice date of the car I'm looking at is 12/10/16 and the car has 8600 miles on it. So the Gold plus would take me out to 12/10/26 and if I average under 10k/yr I should be fine. Thanks

October 18, 20178 yr ask Kevin or Carl Abrams over at http://www.subaruoutback.org they are Subaru salesmen
October 18, 20178 yr Author Thanks for the Kevin & Carl's names! The dealer that has the car at the price I want said they can't do it. But when I called a local dealer they said no problem, but couldn't match the price of the other dealer on a similar car. Thanks for the responses and I hope to be a regular soon on these boards. -Moose
October 18, 20178 yr Buy an aftermarket warranty. The last thing you want is to have the dealer do the repair should it break. Find a good independent that's known here on the forums, etc. GD
