I've got EJ25 EGR question

Featured Replies

I've got a EJ25 Non EGR motor, that I'm trying to replace a EJ25 that had an EGR system, with there be issues, and if so is there a "Work around"

(Motor out of a 03 OBS going into a 04 Forester XS)

TIA

Surely someone has some info on this, I searched "EGR" and came up with nothing....

Use the egr intake manifold and either drill and tap the head to route the pipe into it like stock. Or cut the egr pipe and plumb it into a source of filtered air.

Had the same deal, non EGR motor in EGR car, pipe coming from EGR valve was crimped off as there was not tapped hole in the head. It seemed to run okay, but I only drove it a few times. I had to weld a bung in the exhaust and ran a stainless appliance gas line to EGR and got through DEQ AOK. Wondering now if I can block it off again without harming performance in any way.

There are no emissions check here, so if it will run fine without the erg system, I could just run without it....

It will run super fine.  You may ahve a CEL for EGR.

I tried the "workaraound" didn't work on my car....still get EGR code. O2 sensor isn't seeing enough change with EGR plumbed to intake air.

But runs fine.

Huck - this is what I do.  Check engine light doesn't matter so I just install a non-EGR engine and run it.  Plug and play, runs like a top.

You can also install the EGR intake manifold - and just run a hose from the EGR port on the drivers side to the IAC hose on the passengers side (install a T-fitting there) and you won't get a check engine light and no need to drill the block.
