Freshsisyphus
Hello all. Driving back to NH from Ohio the at oil temp came flashing on our beloved old forester. I did the handshake and it pulled up code 38, which should be the torque control signal. I checked levels to be sure, jiggled electricals and it has not come back on yet (knock on wood trim). Just wanted to ask if it's safe to drive another 500 miles cruising at highway speeds with the error potentially on. Thanks a million, happy new year. GeneralDisorder
Is that the code for the converter lock up? If so not critical for operation. I would just drive it. It could be a bad TCC solenoid, or a bad TCU. GD

navyhoosier
Can you send me the link to the "handshake" that you used? I've got a 96 Impreza outback 2.2 and I'm not having any luck with getting the handshake to work. NH
