November 23, 20196 yr I've tried several different programs from the web. None of them put the system in the program mode. This Forester does have the Security system on it. Here's the one that seems to be the correct sequence but again, the car is not going into the program mode, indicated by the beep. Sit in driver's seat and unlock all doors. Open and close the driver's doorTurn the ignition key from LOCK to ON position 10 times within 15 seconds. Be sure to stop at both lock and on. The horn will HONK once to indicate transmitter programming mode is activated. Leave key in LOCK position and don't remove it from ignition. You now have 45 seconds to complete the programming as below.Open and close driver's door again.Push either lock or unlock button on the remote you want to program. The horn will honk 2 times when successful. To continue and program other remotes at the same time: open and close the driver's door and push lock or unlock on the remote. The driver's door must be opened and closed between each remote you want to program.Done programming? remove the key from the ignition and the horn will honk 3 times. Thanks, Larry
November 23, 20196 yr do you get the first honk? I have read in the past of people fixating on the number 10, evidently, you just keep flipping the key until you hear the honk - might end up beiing 11 or 14 or w'ever.....
November 23, 20196 yr Author I'll try it again in the morning. I did keep on turning the key on/off. 15 times or so. Thanks
November 25, 20196 yr Author Found the fob lock button works, but the unlock button doesn't. Repair or replace the fob. If I can fix it I will.
November 25, 20196 yr This may be a stupid question, but have you tried a fresh battery for the key-fob?
November 26, 20196 yr Author Yes, 1st thing. I found this on the web: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9o8kWUYew4 Sure enough the unlock switch was completely off the circuit board. Fix or replace. I'll try to fix it first.
November 26, 20196 yr That's the kind of stuff I worked on for many years. Don't go over 600 degrees F. on the soldering iron or the heat will lift the copper trace off the board. I have taken the push button switches off scrap pc boards and reused them.
