January 11, 20206 yr He had it checked by the local Subaru Dealer and they said it needs a short block? Well loved Impreza for sale, needs new short block (timing belt went out). Has brand new Blizzaks (less than 3 weeks old), brakes / rotors done 2 months ago. Car is in great shape except for the necessary engine swap. Great project for someone with the know how. https://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/d/colorado-springs-06-subaru-impreza/7053573916.html I'd think bent valves but a block? I don't know the newer ones like the old 90's so I thought I'd ask. Thanks
January 11, 20206 yr It's possible for a valve strike to crack a piston or break the valve off which will destroy the cylinder. GD

GD yep, destroyed cyl 2 on my '78 Honda Civic - valve broke , destroyed piston top, pitted the cyl wall. I honed the cylinder, installed new piston - I drove it for a while - used a little oil. Eventually donated to Goodwill, still running. Edited January 11, 20206 yr by 1 Lucky Texan
