Ej to Ea Oil pressure gauge

Featured Replies

So what are some of you guys doing for the oil pressure gauge in the Brat? Ej just had the idiot light. How are you guys plumbing that in?

My EJ runs quite a bit more oil pressure than the old EA81 it seems. I adapted the EA81 oil pressure sender to the EJ22 no problem. Thing is after a few days it blows the seal on the EA81 oil sending unit and it leaks oil everywhere. After buying 3 of them I gave up. Let me know how you make out.

It is better to do an aftermarket electric gauge?

For myself in 87 GL wagon, planned to use OEM switch with mechanical OP gauge. Switch port in case is 1/8 BSP, right?

1/8 NPT female tee: https://www.mcmaster.com/50785K75, with this adapter:  https://www.mcmaster.com/4860K611.

Or, a branch tee https://www.mcmaster.com/50785K219

with this adapter: https://www.mcmaster.com/4860K141

Copper tubing from engine to inside OP gauge with 3-4 coils of tubing between engine & firewall to prevent fracture.

I had the EJ switch on mine hooked up to some other warning light on the EA82 dash. Something with the AT, maybe? My car was originally an auto, and swapped to a manual at the same time.

Yes, stock sensors are BSPT.

So my choices are, hook up to a mechanical oil pressure gauge, or just go with an idiot light of some kind, or aftermarket electric oil pressure gauge?

Oh, thx czy for the links. :)
