April 6, 20205 yr Greetings, How can I identify what gear ratio a given rear end or transmission might have without looking internally? Thanks, Gibby
April 6, 20205 yr there should be a tag on it that has the gear ratio and if its a lsd diff maybe 2 tags one would be a sticker and one a metal tag atached to one of the bolts on the rear of the housing and would have #s stamped on it Edited April 6, 20205 yr by ferp420
April 6, 20205 yr Author I don’t see any tags or stickers on three different drivetrains, one of which I’m sure is all original with only 82,000 miles. Im swapping MT4 for MT5 and want to ensure they are geared the same. Any other suggestions?
April 6, 20205 yr if the metal tag is gone your gona have to open them up it shouldent be a issue if there all sitting in front of you the gear ratio is stamped on the ring gear or maybe it was.the teeth count thay stamped on the gear ether way thats were it is some times there is mud covering the sticker
April 6, 20205 yr You don't have to open up anything, just count the turns as you turn the trans input shaft or rear diff prop shaft flange.
