Rear Struts and springs

Featured Replies

It seems like the springs cost a lot for my 90 subaru legacy wagon. And Im not finding many choices out there. Anyone have any tips? I just want basic stock stuff. Im seeing a lot that say lowering springs.

I’m sure you can get standard height replacements by king springs.

Or grabbing a set from a Gen2 could be another option.

Thank you I did find them on subaru's website for 65- ish each. So is there any difference in springs and does any brand work with any strut? Im planning to get the kyb on rockauto.  on sale 48 each!

Springs are usually like $30-$40.  I guess it’s because yours is a 1990 but later legacy are cheaper. Search for the part number and check a few places. You can order online too but if it’s just springs you’ll loose the savings on shipping m. Did you find a part number ?

seems to me I had to go thru an online Subaru dealership parts dept to get springs for the 90 Legacy I had some years ago.. (like more than a dozen yrs ago) and it was difficult to find them then. I was also converting mine from blown out air struts to standard struts/springs, so I HAD to get the springs..

but yeah, look up the part numbers for them and search that way.

as an alternative, you might also try searching on car-part.com for good used ones.. Coil springs are pretty robust things, so odds of finding some decent used ones are pretty good.

One might  look at the possibility of using Forester springs on Legacy struts.. ? I believe there is compatibility but I am unsure as to al years.
