I am not a gearhead just a four time owner. I am getting Er IU and Er LC messages on my trip odometer of my fishing car. Can I operate the car safely until my mechanic can tend to it? 2005 Outback 2.5 XT. I want to go fishing!

Those are CANBUS serial communication faults. You should check the battery and terminals first.
