93 impreza whining noise 3rd gear

My 93 Impreza has a whining noise that gets louder the fast I go, only in 3rd gear. I tried googling the problem and most of the answers pointed towards the throwout bearing. What do you all think? It's been years since I've had to post anything here and I'm eternally grateful for any and all help!

It won’t be a throw out bearing. 

More likely either third gear is worn out.
