This hose is leaking and I need to know from you all that know more than me;
1.  What is it? 
2.  What is it used for?

Is this the transmission oil line to the radiator?

This is the front left side of the car.

Yep, transmission cooler. Might just be the rubber hose, but that steel line looks pretty rusty, so I'd bet it's leaking from further up.

 

I can probably offer more, but best I know what car you have...

yup, transmission line for sure..

probably looking at a new radiator of the metal that hose attaches to is rusted out.

That's the body side hard line headed back to the trans. Can likely order a new hard line set from Subaru. Just runs down the frame rail for a short distance and transitions back into hose again. Or just run hose the whole way.
