This 2006 OBW has a few signs of clueless hands having been on it.  One is that the brace between the bell housing and firewall is missing (the ends are there but the middle isn't).

I'm guessing that the length changed over the years.  If I'm right, which years might offer a replacement for this one?

The dogbone thing?  They've all been the same length as far as I know, at least for EJ series.

Hmmm... maybe I'm just being fooled by the material change.  Used to be an Al casting, then moved to FRE somewhere along the way, no?

the proper term for it would be pitch stopper, but most call it a dog bone, lol

i think the fastest and easiest thing to do would be to test fit one, see if it comes close or not

 

I've seen many broken, especially on crashed cars, but not always.

Get a new one. I bought a Subaru one for our Outback, so it couldn't have been too expensive. And they are available aftermarket.

Well, I'll be off to the wrecker - your best dietary source of just about every car part - to get a replacement, but since I don't have the original to compare to I just want to make sure I don't waste a trip if they come in more than one length.

Might be worth a call to the dealer's parts dept. to check.

Thanks, I was just being too lazy to pick up a book and get the name right.

But I probably wouldn't call it a dogbone because sailboats use "dogbones" too (though I favour other styles of trapeze rings myself) and I hate namespace collisions.

 

i didn't look it up, its just one of those weird tidbits that my brain likes to hang on to.. lol

hopefully they are all pretty much the same and it is an easy fix for you.
