Looking at 2020/21 Accents, wondering what is the status of that CVT.

Never been a fan of CVTs, but no other options, also do not see many posts about the Accent.

Any major known problems with them?

I had one as a loaner. My wife and I put about 3k on it. We loved it. They are huge, but peppy. Expect about 21mpg average. Our dog loved it. I can't comment on the CVT.

My 2017 Forester has the TR580 CVT.  It runs well, but that's not going to help you with your research.

According to Wikipedia, the Ascents have the larger TR690 CVT. So you should be looking for info on those transmissions.

Subaru is replacing virtually all of the late model Ascent CVT's under warranty for knocking/failure/software problems. Very bad. 

Frankly I would avoid all the new Subaru's. Absolutely junk.

If you get one with less than 36,000 miles see if you can get the extended 120k warranty? It can be added until the original warranty runs out but not sure if it has to be the original owner to add it?
