VF18-9711 turbo on EA81T

Recommended Posts

You will have to change all the exhaust/intake flanges to fit the turbo. There may be a few more items I dont know about. A bigger turbo will mean more turbo lag, but when it kicks in, hold on to your hat :burnout: Better put a IC on it too, if you want the engine to last.

The inlet side should be very close to fitting, The exhaust side looks like the standard Legacy/wrx pattern. Would require a different downpipe.

Also, if its anything like using a VF11 or a TD04, the flow will be so much better that 8 PSI on that will probably pull harder than 12 psi on your old VF7.. 18 PSI would likely turn your EA81 into a ball of melted slag.

I have been told this turbo is "IHI Ballbearing Turbo off a Subaru BD5 Twin Turbo Legacy". Don't ballbearing turbos spool faster, less lag?

What is the best turbo to use that should bolt in without mods?

Just so you know, currently I have an IC, forged pistons, oil cooler and rising fuel pressure regulator.
