EA82Turbo
Hi, I have an EA81T with a bad turbo. I can get a VF18-9711 for cheap. This turbo is the primary turbo from a twin turbo legacy. I run around 13-18 psi. Will this turbo fit? Will it work OK? Thanks heaps
Turbone
You will have to change all the exhaust/intake flanges to fit the turbo. There may be a few more items I dont know about. A bigger turbo will mean more turbo lag, but when it kicks in, hold on to your hat Better put a IC on it too, if you want the engine to last. calebz
The inlet side should be very close to fitting, The exhaust side looks like the standard Legacy/wrx pattern. Would require a different downpipe. Also, if its anything like using a VF11 or a TD04, the flow will be so much better that 8 PSI on that will probably pull harder than 12 psi on your old VF7.. 18 PSI would likely turn your EA81 into a ball of melted slag. EA82Turbo
I have been told this turbo is "IHI Ballbearing Turbo off a Subaru BD5 Twin Turbo Legacy". Don't ballbearing turbos spool faster, less lag? What is the best turbo to use that should bolt in without mods? Just so you know, currently I have an IC, forged pistons, oil cooler and rising fuel pressure regulator.
archemitis
i guess the rhb series turbos all have ball bearings. i think thats what the b stands for, either way, its not too much differnt than your old turbo, cept bigger =]
