So, the other day I was driving my newly purchased 92' Loyale Nerd wagon, and I noticed that I was unable to coast backwards on the hill I was sitting on. This being odd because my car is a 5 speed. The clutch was depressed and I was in 1st gear. The brake pedal was no depressed, however. My dad said he can remember Subaru advertising this a while back. So, what is this function called, and how does it work? Put those gears into motion.

Its called the infamous hill holder, when on a hill you push in brake and clutch at same time then release brake, auxillary cable from clutch fork holds a valve that keeps the brakes locked up until you release clutch pedal to engage clutch and go on your way. Allows one on clutch and one on gas, with out playing footsie with brake and gas at same time or getting into the clutch slipping game.

heh, just found out that i have it. not like ill use it, i am e-brake happy on hills when i park. and quite frankly, i dont trust it at all while driving. might come in handy in san francisco, but not in valleyville here. flat as a week-old soda on the kitchen counter.
