September 1, 200421 yr Hi board, I broke something while installing a weber. This thing is located under the alternator and while I was turning a bolt to take off some of the emission stuff, it snap off. I do not know what this is and hope it is not too important. I was wondering if this is replacable or the rest of the not broken part underneath the alternator can be block off without any consequences. Here are the pictures. Thanks Dan
September 1, 200421 yr hmmm did it come off of a vac line? or did a lil coolant or fuel come out with it?
September 1, 200421 yr That's the bit that the coolant runs through to get to the carb base. Gonna have to re-plumb around it in order to run the engine, or coolant will squirt out the manifold under the carb. I'm not entirely sure what the little gizmo you broke does, but I think it may be a cut-off valve for removing the carb or manifold easier or something. I don't think it serves any esencial purpose - just yank it and plumb the hoses together. GD
September 1, 200421 yr Author The end of the hose goes into vaccum line, and I'm not sure where the other side goes. It is connected to something underneath the alternator. So I could just re-plumb it without the little platic part? or do I need a replacement? Thanks Dan
September 1, 200421 yr It's not vacuum line - it's coolant line, and it tees into the water pump line under the alternator. I do not think the part is escencial - just plumb around it. GD
September 2, 200421 yr Author Dangit...now I have found a replacement for the broken part, I cant figure out where it goes. I have one side that goes into little pipe underneath the alternator but where the other one goes into? Does anyone?
September 2, 200421 yr right under the carb there is a bung sticking out to the right side (as your looking at it) of the manifold
