Hey, I am interested in redoing my exhaust system on my 84 EA81, does anyone know where I can get an aftermarket cat and muffler in the US?

All I have is a straight pipe with a glass pack at the end.

He's in CALF tho... dont they got some mad emissions control standards there to pass? Don't be too shocked when you see the pirces of 'new' ones! Anyway you could score a used one?

 

Mufflers well... everyone has an opinion on them. I like the thunder bolt style glass packs. Others enjoy their flowmasters, cherry bombs, and verious flavors of 'turbo' mufflers. Lots to choose from

Yeah, the smog restrictions are pretty strong here in cali, can't just throw anything on the pipe! Mine works just fine, just looking for something that flows and works better than stock, but will still pass smog.

Oh I thought yours was thrashed or something. You can get high flow cats from places like Sumit Racing and Jegs.

fer da muffler section i like the cherrys myself. of course, thats IMO, and probably not needed. say, on a side note to the WCSS6 attenders, how come many of the nicest lifted wagons still had the stock exhaust? that muffler just ruins the whole grand scheme of the lifted hatches... not to mention how easy it is to redo it. is there any advantages to keepin the orig'?

I'm in the market for a aftermarket cat for my Brat. I'll let you know what I find out. Kragen or Napa seem to be about $200-250 for a universal cat. Remember your 84 has 2 cats so cutting one out might help a bit.

discountconverter.com has lots of cats listed. If you look in the universal cat listing and scroll down to the 8XXX section, you'll find some with dual 2" in and out, also has one with O2 sensor fitting. Think it's 8012 and 8015 respectivly.
