December 9, 200421 yr Supercharging. Discussed before? Yes. Why me and why now? Think...turbos, yes, are more efficent of engine energies, and more top performance and such....BUT...supercharger...put foot down, insta power. a 2.5 RS that is set up properly, and supercharged, MAD TITE autocross speed, for REAL. So....supercharge an EA82. Its small, light, and TUFF. Instant power, no waiting for turbo spooling action, and yes SC takes away crank power, but the overall gain and powering out of corners would be well worth it. NA build? sure, thats good. Combine a lower compression NA build, say 9.0 or 9.5 to 1, with SC setup. Expect power output to be around 180-200 HP. Perfect power range for such a light car (2600 lbs or so, but 2600 is the legal weight limit in SCCA for Street Mod with forced induction) in a local level. Or go to SM2 for even less weight and compete with miatas and RX7's and the like. Anyhow, just an idea that I was seriously considering...and i might still follow thru when/if time and $ permit...maybe jsut do up a street SC setup for the wagon. Who knows...?
December 9, 200421 yr Sounds Awesome:brow: :brow: I don't know much about this kinda thing so i can't comment,.. (other than those figures sound REALY GOOD) So by all means.... GO FOR IT
December 9, 200421 yr Author your sik!! That means you can sell me your tmic and ????? hahaha Nope. That stays on the RX.
December 9, 200421 yr well a few others will chime in sometime soon about the gen 1 legacy wagon that is running a SC from a mercedes in rallyX and it's tight
December 9, 200421 yr The thought has crossed my mind a couple times.. there a supercharher from a 97 bonneville sitting down at the shop.. Not sure what we are going to do with it yet:grin:
December 9, 200421 yr Dude, Seriously... A roots type supercharger on a horizontally opposed motor would be so sick (Yes, I've seen the gen 1 legacy...That is way cool) But, seriously....What if you got a spider and cut a hole in the top of it...Like the whole top center where the runners come together....Then...Make an adapter plate for a roots type s/c to bolt right onto the top of the big hole you just cut....Think of that efficiency...It'd be insane! Hopefully you guys can visualize this with me...But if not, I'll save the crappy pencil-drawn sketches for later!
December 9, 200421 yr I really thinking about doing this, it souneds right up my alley. I would need a crank pully, the belt, the superchanger, and ?
December 9, 200421 yr Yep, Reddevil, on Nasioc, I think he's on here too, did a NICE custom supercharger setup. Thread Here
December 10, 200421 yr he isn't yet that I know of but I have talked to him a lil bit about it and it is interesting to say the least very interesting sound when the clutch engages at a certain RPM to give him boost and that is the guy I was talking about that runs it in RallyX
