yeah...what ^^^^she^^^^ said.

So...someone buy some.

by some......like come by some? or do you mean buy some? :)

ok...one question...WHY???

That's 1000 bucks. For that money, you could easily have custom pistons made, Port and polish the heads, cams, Knife edge the crank, Re bore, Deck the head and block flat and use metal head gaskets. Then probably still have money left over.

You'd have to be nuts to buy a completely stock EA82. even if it was brand new.

umm can i use your machine shop? because those prices are incredible for all that work. I know i have spent more in the past for mutch less labor.

last I checked custom pistons alone would be around 60-100 each

It does sound high, I had all the work done on my 300hp small block Chev done for a little over 1k. Sort of apples to oranges, but it still sounds steep for a shortblock.

you dont get the comfort of haveing a NEW NEVER BEEN RUN AND OVERHEATED/COOKED block when you buy new. STi/WRX SB's for for around $1500 or so, and sell like hot cakes...and they DONT stay stock. They get another $1500 or more invested before going into the car.

So yeah, get that JY block thats been cooked re worked and put in 1000 worth of rods, 200 in crank work, 400 for pistons, any about 200~400 for labor and block work...for it to blow due to a cooked block that really could not be fixed.

1k is a GREAT deal for a block that is no longer in production, 11 left in the COUNTRY, and are NEW.

Sorry I can't belive that :(

I've had work done at a machine shop on my EA82 and Lord knows I wish I could have walked out of there under $1000. Total bill when all was said and done was $1600. No fancy grinds, knife edges, boreing, porting or polishing :(

DIS....hahaha...Dizzyless Ignition System.....DIS i mena by Do It sideways i think has connections...so he could get all that done.

I know I could do all that for less than 1k...cuz I could do it myself, and I have connections too.

I'll check on that....but tomorrow...as I dont have the EPC with me 24/7.... :-p

I know, but I cant.

Ok. maybe i was a little out to lunch with my calcs.

BUT you could definately built a block to near new bottom end specs (if not better). Add better head gaskets (metal), prolly new pistons (even at 60-100 a pop), And hell....you have a dremel..just taker to the head.

And the "new block issue". The blocks aren't your problem man. Nor are the rods.

The problems with these engines lies solely in the Head Gaskets, and the pistons.

For 1000 bucks you could easily take care of both issues.

We did build the motor in my uncles 323 GTX for around 1000 bucks, and that included JE Pistons, Cometic Head Gaskets, Ceramic Coating, and a pile of other stuff. But that is our CDN funny money.

:drunk: whats the mean exactly?

What about a PN/ price for just the bare block, that would suit me for a good price if they are available. I really don't need the rods/crank/pistons/rings, most of that stuff is either getting reworked or replaced anyhow. A new block is something nice to have around the garage, or I can always make furniture out of it.

TOO MUCH!!

$1599.00 I have not checked avalibility tho.

why is a bare block more than a shortblock?

how mutch is a bare head compared to one assembled?

  • Author

I have no clue....but I think you can only get the heads bare...and its not hard to swap over the valves, springs and seals and such... :headbang:
