December 19, 200421 yr Its nothing special ..but it is to me... This big chunk of aluminum and stuff is my winter project. I am bouncing off the walls happy thanks once again to the MAN Moosens. This thing is going to help me in multiple ways. First if something happens to my Bucky I will have a spare....also what I am going to learn from this project is priceless. I am going to learn how to change timing belts and all the seals and maybe get into the HLAs. Its from an AT but Paul already told me what to do to swap it. It is going in my kitchen next to my puter so if or when I get into a bind I can turn to this wonderful group for help. Now I just wish my neighbor would wake up to help me carry it in the house!!!
December 19, 200421 yr That is a big chunk. I am wondering, though, where you have your computer: on a workbench that will support several hundred pounds? Good score.
December 19, 200421 yr Author LOL...I have a tini studio Apt..my puter sits on the kitchen table..the motor is going to be beside the table..It would go into the living room but there is no room....so the kitchen will have to do. I could put it in the basement but..why?? I want to look at it and if its more easily accessable I will work on it more. Heck I rebuilt a dirtbike in my bedroom.
December 19, 200421 yr I wish I could have been there I love to dig i a bunch of parts! Sometimes you can find a jewel. At least I got those Brat bed seats from him.
December 19, 200421 yr Author WOOOOHOOOO!!!!!!! Its in the kitchen!!!! Now where to start where to start?? Oh I guess by cleaning up the tranny fluid that leaked outta the torque converter onto the floor.
December 19, 200421 yr Way to go Connie! You're place is starting to look like ours... dash on the top back of the couch, car seats in the dining room... 1950 Ford bumper leaning against the wall... boxes of parts for both trucks... man, we need a garage! We cleaned out the shed, so that'll help!
December 19, 200421 yr First thing, take off the torque converter... why did you move it with it on??? :-\
December 19, 200421 yr First thing, take off the torque converter... why did you move it with it on??? :-\ Matt,it was late, too much to do,just happy to be blowing stuff out.Funny,we tipped it in one direction to make sure all the antifreeze was out.....but i guess we blipped out.Shoot me. :-p Connie,I also neglected to think of tossing some sort of stand for you to work of off.I have my power saws home but I can throw something together that resembles a cabinet with a worktop,or a stand with worksurface...you name it.And yes,it'll hold the hundred and twenty pounds tops that the block you have weighs.
December 20, 200421 yr Matt,it was late, too much to do,just happy to be blowing stuff out.Funny,we tipped it in one direction to make sure all the antifreeze was out.....but i guess we blipped out.Shoot me. :-p Oh, I totally understand how it got into her car with the TC still on. What I was wondering was why it was still on when they CARRIED it into the SMALL apartment? I guess it must be the blush of youth that didn't mind carrying another 30-40 unnecessary pounds... up stairs, maybe? Man, where were young ladies like Connie when I was younger? But then again, if I had married a girl like her we would be arguing over kitchen table space for his and hers engines!!! Nice score, Connie. Nice works, Moosens! Pat:)
December 20, 200421 yr 5 gallon bucket works as engine stand, until you need to pull oil pan that is...
December 20, 200421 yr Hey you looked like you knew what you were doing when you were hunched over it with your fingers in every orfice at the warehouse On a side note Benebob is very happy! I'll be there in a few weeks so I'll drop you an e as time goes by (you know how I can't stay off the phone  ) Have fun and break a nail will ya! Smiles, Melis
December 20, 200421 yr Author I am going to take the torque converter off tomorrow after work if I even go (its snowing ..but that usually doesnt stop me Bucky likes snow even if he is just FWD). The motor rode very nicely..no leakage in the car..just the kitchen floor. Did have to run a stop light on the way home yesterday..if front of a cop none the less...to keep it from shifting. My neighbors now officially think I am insane.I happen to like my methods of home decorating. NorthWet...I am lucky I live on the first floor..only had 3 steps to go up...plus I can carry some some weight when I have to.I have shifted it around a few times already to center it and level it by myself. Its really not that heavy considering. Melis...I want to hear what Benebobs face was like when he saw IT!!!And thats good about you coming back up..we will need more candle crack by then. And ..I spend $25 every 2 weeks on these nails..I have put them through the test..they hold up well to car grease (my favorite thing) . Paul..I am thinking on getting the engine stand Melis and Dave were telling me about from Harbor Freight then look out!! I want to be the EA82 Goddess when I am done with this thing.
