1993 loyale 4wd auto

Featured Replies

I have a 1993 loyale sedan 4wd and it is automatic. When I drive 55mph the tach is at approx 3200rpm which is high. My engine is wearing out fast. Is their anything out there that can lower the rpm--different transmission, rear end-- Something. Thanks in advance, by the way I got tired of shifting that is why I have the automatic.

Hi!

You can do a 5 speed dual range transmission swap, but then you have to shift yourself.

There is also a 4 speed automatic transmission, but I don´t know if its swapable.

Swap to a manual overdrive (5 speed) if you wanna drop those RPMs. That tranny is just asking to break anyway so might wanna line one up and start aquiring parts now while it still runs fine :drunk:

The 4EAT 4-speed auto can be swapped in. Drops the RPM to the low-to-mid 2000s at cruise. Your engine will run almost forever at 3200rpm, though.

In austria there were 2 different types of the 4EAT available.

A 4 speed automatic tranny single range and a 4 speed automatic tranny

with dual range and 100% lock differential in the middle.

I do not know if these 2 types were available in the US.

I hadn't heard of the dual-range 4EAT, though that doesn't mean much.

Any chance that you could drop one in the post for me???

3200 RPM isn't high. Our 90 Loyale with 3spd Automatic runs about 4,000 @ 70mph and that doesn't worry me in the slightest. My samurai runs about 4,000 @ 70mph in 5th gear. I think the only thing I'd be worried about on your RPM is if you think it's slipping, in which case I'd be more concerned about the tranny than I would be the engine.

I have no pictures of the transmission, only of the car:

Sorry, but I have no pics of the inside. These Sedans were the only sedans with dual range.
