Anyone have suggestions on engine kits out there for a EJ22 engine, non turbo.

I have a 96 Impreza, four door, and I would love to turn it into a sleeper.

 

What options do I have to upgrade to a 2.5L engine? Would it mate up to my existing tranny, engine mounts, exhaust?

if you really want a decent sleeper then throw a 2.5 DOHC and grab yourself a avo turbo kit and go to town, yes ej25 (2.5L) uses same transmission and bolt pattern, it will still use factory engine mounts too. or do the whole ej20 swap thing.

my best advice would be to get an ej20T yes it will match up and would give you better life out of your engine....theres more to putting a turbo on your car than just bolting it on...you would need an ECU and would need to modify the wiring harness probabally....lots of time, work and smarts....go for it

 

though an EJ22T would be a rare but cool find
