January 10, 200521 yr er27 into hatch.4 speed dr. front axles removed, rwd. it will do burnouts, and even idle with the tire spining on the ground, with the front emergency brake pulled. seems fine right when i get on the highway, i slip the clutch. it seems fine at lower speeds but at higher speeds(car speed, not engine speed) it starts slippin. i am only able to get up to about 85 then the clutch starts slippin like mad, and i go nowhere. this clutch, and flywheel/pressure plate combo held just fine on my 90 hp motor. never slipped once. now i cant get it to hold for crap. i cant even get a good lauch out of her to tell if shes fast.... help! can anyone think of something i could have screwed up on the cluthc install that may make it slip? other than the cable too tight? could i just have too much hp for this clutch? its almost motor pullin time again =/
January 10, 200521 yr Author i have an ea81 8 7/8 flywheel, redrilled. ea81 clutch plate, 5k not so hard miles. ea81 pressure plate. now, as far as i can tell, it held my 90 horse power flawlessly. i have an xt6 tranny, and flywheel, and all that, i might be goin 5 speed. but i want to keep my dual range, and use the tanny i have in there now. thanks for any thoughts.

I'll ask about an EA82 'stage 2' setup when I pick up my EA82 stage 2 tomorrow.
January 10, 200521 yr Author i guess this all sounds kinda retarded... im tryin to run 150 hp, through a clutch meant for 65

January 11, 200521 yr just a heads up, i learned the hard way, use the same pressure plate and flywheel and you should be in the clear, as in EA-81--EA-81 cause if you use both, well, i wasn't goin anywhere fast. Clutch disc should obviously be the right one for the transmission splines
January 11, 200521 yr Author ya, if you mix the clutches, and flywheels, it either puts way too much pressure, or way not enough pressure on the disc.
January 11, 200521 yr puts way too much pressure why would that be a bad thing? or are we talking like you can't shift right too much
January 11, 200521 yr get an XT6 clutch for that setup... its whats in the EJ22 wagon.. and no slipping! (and guess what! its also used with XT6 setups from what i hear too! ) thats what I would do... the XT6 clutch slips right onto the 5spd tranny shaft if you didnt already know.. (so it should be a very easy transmogrification!)just pull the tranny out! get a 3.9 5spd d/r with 23spline axles, and run the stock ea81 axles, and a lengthend driveshaft...
January 11, 200521 yr What's weird is it does not slip consistantly. It will sit there and do a brake stand and NOT slip the clutch. But when you are just humming along and try to give it a little more gas to speed up... then it slips. Why wouldnt it slip at peak torque output during a brake stand???? Or taking off from a dead stop??? When I've felt a clutch slip; it slipped all the time. Soon as you started reaching peak torque it would start slipping. Very consistantly.
