I am going by the linkage connecting on the driver's side = Carter-Weber, but I make some stupid mistakes. I need to know for sure. Also if it is a Carter-Weber, I need to do all possible cleanings because rebuild is not an option. Would you recommend soaking it in something? Or is MMO or some similar system cleaner just as good. I think the choke wasnt set right because it didnt run that smooth for the first 1-2 minutes, but after that it was great. 85Sub4WD Posted January 29, 2005 Share Posted January 29, 2005 I have not found that MMO is good at breaking down grime unless it is at a fairly high temp, in fact I had it grunge-up a carb on me once, so I would not recomend soaking it in that or anything. Carb soaking is usually done before a rebuild to break all of the old seals loose (You do not want that to happen!!!) Caboobaroo Posted January 29, 2005 Share Posted January 29, 2005 one thing about the Carter-Webers is that trying to get parts from anywhere including the dealership won't happen! I needed a part for the one on my '83 hatchback and the only place I found one was at a hobby store. It sucked but I ended up getting rid of the car since it was a giant rust bucket and ran like crap. Traded it straight across for my '79 4wd wagon:D Gen 1's ROCK!!!
