Rear toe...

Featured Replies

So...the rear toe on the EA82 stuff....slot the 3 holes in the arm that attaches to the trailing arm?

I really want to know why the FSM says you can adjust it. has anybody been able to adjust it?

if the FSM says you can ajdust it then it should also tell you how :drunk:

it does, and I tried...kinda but it wouldn't move

Herm is it rust-welded? Or was there something else physicly limiting the proccess?

i took it all apart and there is no adjustment.

Yep, its adjusted at the 3 bolts, moving for and aft adjusts toe, twisting adjusts camber. One setting effects the other so you need to check and adjust both at the same time. The adjustment range is pretty limited, if your looking for big changes you will probably need to modify something.

Hmm... the holes should be oversized, the're not??

My guess would be that adjustment is attained by adding small shims. By using tapered shims you could feasibly make small adjustments to both toe and camber. Probably not enough to get the negative camber that Will is after though.

you could stack washers between the trailing arm and the side of the torsion bar, to space it out a little

Here's the page from the '89 FSM (had to split it so it was readable)...

I've already got -2.3* of camber in the rear..... ...but ONLY -1.7* in the front. :banghead:

And thats with no mods on the back other than springs.....the thing is toe'd in a freaking mile tho. I guess im just going to slot those three holes and go from there.

I like how the specialty tool for rear alignment is "a piece of wood". I guess Subaru anticipated what kind of people would be buying their cars.

ya I thought that was funny
