February 7, 200521 yr Will it fit under the hood, with hood scoop, and is it too large for an 1.8 ltr engine? Or is a regular (u.s.) wrx type sufficient. What are the plumbing problems?
February 7, 200521 yr Do a search for WRX intercoolers. Many people have put on a WRX intercooler, and it seems to be about the right size and design for the EA82T. Garner, Calebz, Subarutex, and WJM just to name a few. I don't know what the difference is between that and an STI one, though I assume the STI is larger.
February 8, 200521 yr i just run a wrx intercooler and it works great. A sti intercooler might work better but they are alot more $$$. the $$$ is the resson i just got the wrx but i was amazed how much power it added
February 8, 200521 yr The STI is larger and overall better flow. On an EA82 the WRX is a great addition and all you need unless you got into wicked high boost.

The STi unit is larger by about 10%~15%...or so. The y-pipe is all metal and the core is larger....aka wider. BOTH the WRX and STi units will fit under the hood.
