Is it possible to fit an EA81 into an 83 DL wagon? If so are there an modifcation or parts issues? The engine that is currently fitted is an EA82.

Over here the 83 DL had a EA81 from the factory. Was the EA82 in yours a retrofit?

Sure, it'll fit Shouldnt be to bad of a motor swap too seeing how the EA81 is carbed. If your EA82 is SPFI you might look into the SPFI upgrade onto the EA81 engine. There is a write up here on it. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=28620&highlight=ea81+spfi+conversion

Thanks for the good info. The car came standard in 83 with the EA82. I will look into it further and check out the aus site. I will let you know how I go,

We sure don't have ea82 styles in 83 in New Zealand, and we usually get the same models as Australia....
