gen 1 rear defrosters

Featured Replies

I'm taking a survey on how Gen1 owners, with rear window defrosters, feel about how they work.

On my GF and both wagons, THEY STINK! The wires on the glass are not broken, (you can see each line as they heat and start to defog), the battery is good and the alternator is good. The contacts, where the wire plugs on, is good. They just all seem weak. Could it be the low output alternator? Is it just a gen 1 thing???? There is simply NO comparison between my Imprezas and the gen 1s. The Imprezas clear PRONTO!

the ones in my wagon sucked as well. I had like a half of a line heat up. Never had any problems with my Brat though;) Oh wait it has no defroster!

My '78 wagon is pretty good.Clears from the center out.I'll gladly wait untill next fall to go check and give a report.:) First real day of Spring was today,up here.

Any solution for this defroster problem?Another VW crossover?

The gen 2 ones are pretty crap compared with new ones too.
