Which years did subes have a single pair of round headlights?

To be more specific, I seem to recal gen 2 brats, wagons, hatches etc with a single pair of large round headlights as opposed to the two pairs of small headlights in the 70s.

I think it was round type in 1979, 1980 and 1981 then two square lights in 1982 followed by the 4 headlight system in 1983 to 1987 in a Brat.. The wagon had 4 headlights from 1983 to 1985 I think.... Joe

The STD hatches up to 87 had single rounds.

what is STD (in this context)?

STD means Standard. It was between a GL and a DL, or below a DL. They were available in Hatch's and i believe Wagons even came in STD. But they didnt have much of anything when it came to options. Even the headlights weren't an option haha

I've been told by Andrew that the STD was below the DL line. He had an 87 hatchback that was a STD. He said he loved it cause it was sooo nice. I wonder how nice it is with no options??? But I still like my 79 DL 4wd wagon. go old school!

STD's were indeed the bottom of the line. No options at all, not even carpet!! There's one at the junkyard here, instead of carpet it has a black rubber coating on the floor.

The STD's here in BeNeLux had 1.3 cc engines, with 4 speed man.trans. Singel pair of round headlights, no clock, no RV mirror on the right, no colored windows, no trunk opener, no make up mirror, no day/night position on the inside rv mirror, plastic seat covers and flor mat.

I had rubber floor mats instead of carpet in my first car (non Subaru) and it was the greatest. Bucket of water, scrub brush, any kind of soap and it's clean. No carpet stains. I wish I had that in my wagon.

The 2-round headlight setup came on the following:

all '80-'89 STD Hatchbacks (all STDs were Hatchbacks)

'80 2wd DL Sedans, Coupes, and Wagons

all '81 DL models

 

I think the '70s cars and Gen I Brats had a 2-round setup, but I don't know the years/models for those.

Uh, my 80 GL Brat has the solo rounds. That go for all Brats for that year?

I had a 80 GL Brat and it had 2 small round headlights on each side.

What would it take to convert an 81 DL 4wd wagon from single round headlights to dual round headlights?

 

What year/wagon...hatch...brat/model(gl, dl, std [uh..heh..heh]) Anyone done this before?
