I coulda swore that I saw in someones sig that they have an SPFI tube on a carb..... Any idea who or how this might be done? Thanks

that'd be me. all you do is remove the carb airbox and clamp the SPFI air intake on top of the carb.. might take some trimming on the bottom ring of the air intake. You want the hose clamp flush with the end of the air intake boot and the carb (cut the bottom ring off 1/8 to 1/4 ")

 

install the airbox on the passenger side where the holes are already drilled and tapped..

rerun your pcv lines to the air intake and the pcv valve and you are done

Ok, but what do you do with all the little vac lines? And I assume that I'll have to run all new PCV lines to the intake tube. Thanks for the help, I kinda wanna... well... rice it a bit with a bit conical filter on my stock carb wagon... Well, its not totally stock, them turbo hubcaps probably add like 3 horse a piece:brow:

Bump for intrest... Also I looked at it... whats about the thing attached to the stock tube, is that the purge control solenoid valve? What do I do with all the little vac tubes, drill holes, add RTV?

the canister you speak of controls a flapper door that allows hot air from around the exhaust or cold air depending on witch is needed. with out it your carb may ice up. but if torxxx hasn't had a problem with it in alaska i dought you will either

I'm not talking about the hot air induction flapper, theres a solenoid mounted to the front left side of the air "box".

am reallllllllly curious also, anyone with lots of detailed pics available?

you just cap all of the vac lines.

 

sounds scary i know. the only vac lines i have on my hitachi is the one for the disty, the one for the heater controlls going into the cab. cap everything else. unless you like stuff like cruise controll, and air conditioning, leave those hooked up too.

 

i took a hand file, and filed a sharp lip around the spigot/throuat of the carburetor, to give the rubber something to bite into, cuz it slipped off a few times.

i also cut it down just enough, so the hood actualy holds it on some.

 

the spare tire compartment is a good spot for a cone filter..
