May 5, 200520 yr I'm having a bit of trouble with my exhaust. It's an EA81. The gasket where the pipe bolts to the flange leaks quite a bit on both sides. I am curious as to where to get 2 new gaskets, their approproiate sizes (distance between bolts, diameter of the hole etc. or a part number) and what kind of sealer to use. I tried autozone but they gave me two round gaskets that were definately the wrong ones.
May 5, 200520 yr I'm not sure which part of the pipe you need the gaskets for? As for the sealer you want to get "Ultra Copper" sensor safe high temp RTV Silicone Gasket Maker. I got mine from autozone.. 6 bux for a 3 ounce tube
May 5, 200520 yr do you mean the f;ange under the car after the tranny? you will want a DONUT GASKET about 2 in or so, and use spring bolts as replacements
May 6, 200520 yr Author All this said, I'm not quite sure I have my terminology right... I need to fix a leak coming from a lack of a gasket at the point where the exhaust y pipe bolts to the bottom of the engine. It says in my manual that it bolts directly to the flange. What do I need to ask for at the dealer?
May 6, 200520 yr ask for exhaust manifild/header gasket, tell them its the engine to exhaust side. i like to use the copper silicone as well on both sides of the gasket, use anti-seize compound on the nuts
May 6, 200520 yr The only place I could find in Tucson that stocks those gaskets is Midas. Good luck!
