May 17, 200520 yr ok.. so im getting ready for another cross country jaunt.. (montucky to michigan)..i was just wondering what gear you all are in when cruising teh interstate at about 70. at 70 im ruinning about 3200 in 5th and 4k in 4th. any difference in mpg's etc.. i know, probably a wicked dumb question, but oh well....

May 17, 200520 yr higher gear,lower rpm=better MPG and leave your crusie on as much as possible if you have it
May 17, 200520 yr '87 GL 5spd D/R Whitefish to Baltimore (58 hours) ... and return. 70-75 all the way, 5th gear, except 4th to pass, and two or three hills on the whole route.
May 17, 200520 yr 4th gear, 3500-4000 RPMs, 70-80mph depending on terrain/wind/traffic/etc. Only time I've used 5th since the lift and tires was coming down that huge hill from Hudson WI to MN border! It's worth 29" tires
