June 27, 200520 yr JWX and I went to go feed our old skool lust and purchased a-many-a EA series parts. These parts were 6 hours away... Vehicle: 1996 Outback wagon, 4EAT AWD+199000 miles. Parts to grab: 1 complete EA82T engine assy 1 complete EA81 engine assy 1 3AT 4WD tranny 1 5spd WRX tranny 1 5spd D/R FT4WD tranny 1 LSD 1 driveshaft 8 wheels WITH tires mounted 2 sedan tailight assy 2 sway bars 2 sedan door trim panels xx misc stuff ALL of it fit inside the Outback with PLENTY of comfortable riding room for the 7 hour trip back...as we made a little detour. I was quite pleased...and VERY impressed. I had fit some serious stuff in there...but the place where we picked everything up...we had everything in it but the wheels...3 of them said we better get some rope and tie them down on the roof rack. I said "I envision all 8 of these things fitting inside..." and even I was not 100% sure they would fit...and they did. I wish I'd had my digicam...was quite a site. The Michelin tires held up perfectly to being overloaded by 300 lbs each and over inflated +10 psi. Sag? Yep. STi struts helped in keeping the Outback stable over bumps and other road inperfections.
June 27, 200520 yr muy impressivo I thought I was doing pretty good with a turbo long block, and a 2WD & 4WD 3AT behind the backseat in my GL.
June 27, 200520 yr holy snizzle and i thought loading a twin hospital bed(non electric) with mattress, hospital bed table and a couple misc things was a load full for my old 92 legacy.
June 27, 200520 yr ...1 complete EA82T engine assy 1 complete EA81 engine assy 1 3AT 4WD tranny 1 5spd WRX tranny 1 5spd D/R FT4WD tranny 1 LSD 1 driveshaft 8 wheels WITH tires mounted 2 sedan tailight assy 2 sway bars 2 sedan door trim panels xx misc stuff ALL of it fit inside the Outback with PLENTY of comfortable riding room... June 27, 200520 yr I agree! wagon's are awesome! i fit so much stuff in mine... and it's just a tiny OBS!
June 28, 200520 yr I always figured you could chop a Subaru and haul away the loot in another Subaru, but this is proof you could do two! And hey, if you blew a tire at 40psi, you had eight spares.
June 28, 200520 yr Author well...they were at 50...and the other 8 tires were 4x140mm rims wth 13 inch tires on it.
