FirstSubaruGLwagon
Ok first of all,,, I'm poor. But I own an 85/86 wagon and I just did the factory strut adjustment lift of 1.5" in the rear and have a strut adjustment lift in the front of 1" So now,,,, what would you experianced guys say about the tallist tire size?? on 15" drilled 6 lug rim? I was thinking maybe a 205/60-15. any idea's? current tires are about 23" tall, and I was thinking a max of 25" or 26"?
A DOG
If you got a lift you could get even bigger tires on it. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24980
FirstSubaruGLwagon
Yeah that would be supper nice! but I have to think about the life of my CVs sence its a daily driver.
soobmater
if you put a ozified or mudrat lift in,it doesnt change the axle geometrey at all.you are hurting your axles more now then you would with another type of lift. now for tires, if you arnt interested in trimming your fenders i would say about a 25inch tire. TheSubaruJunkie
Set the front end down and lift it the proper way. With the front struts extended to the max you are putting more angle on the CV's and you are also going to wear the outsides of your front tires. You will need to do some fender trimming and beating to clear larger tires without a lift as well. -Brian
soobmater
but...you should still be able to run about 24.5's. i had 24's on for a very short period of time and some kinda ruff stuff and there wasnt any rubbing. it looked a lot better with a lil bigger tires on to. these were 14inch pugs though. Sweet82
A Forester is not going to climb like your D/R GL! It's different car designed for different terrain. There is an equation you must balance Climbing V.S. Clearance? Bigger tires will give clearance but take away your climbing ability? If your really not wanting to spend money, I'd just put the larger tires and put up with some rubbing. Did you ever really get an answer on what tire will fit w/o rubbing on the 15" rim? MorganM
25"s will fit with minor attitude adjustments. 27"s will fit if you dont mind triming fenders and gently moving some metal with a big hamer. 29"s will fit if you drasticly cut fenders and move a lot of metal with your big hammer. FirstSubaruGLwagon
Did you ever really get an answer on what tire will fit w/o rubbing on the 15" rim? well,, from searching the treads,,, the most common answer I could find, is a 25" tire , for the max without rub on normal road use. soobmater
just lift it man. i think the AA lift is exactly 400 bucks. ozified(byb)lifts are a little cheaper. then you will be able to run 27inch tires with no trimming. 28 inch with minor trimming, 29 with quite a bit of trimming and a nice hammer. you could get john(mudrat79) to build you a big lift. scott in bellingham builds 6inch lifts. and i use my lifted wagon as a daily driver too.
