what's a good way to clean seats. i have an XT6 with the standard late 80's type soob seats. best stuff or method? wetvac of some sort or just chemicals?

Very hot day. Remove seats, take to do-it-yourself car wash, spray with the high pressure sprayer. Use soap, but be sure to spray it all out. Set seats in bright sunlight for 4 or 5 hours.

 

Never had a stain I couldn't get out with that method. That's how we used to clean them when I worked at a junkyard. The fabric will feel a little coarse afterward, but once it's been sat on a bit it'll return to normal.

Lysol Basin, Tube and Tile Cleaner, in the aerosol can. That stuff is the bomb. I use it on everything, even the CAT!!!

 

For small stains I use a rag and put a little brake clean on the rag and then dab the stop until it comes out.

 

Or a professional steam cleaning like used for carpets.

simple green is great too. it's also better for your cat

 

resolve carpet cleaner (red bottle) has done well on house carpets that i've seen, for spot stains, but I've not used it on automotive carpet before so caveat emptor.

I was joking about the cat, but do use Lysol everywhere. I have tried carpet cleaners like resolve, and I am not inpressed with ground in stains like coffee or dirt. You have to get the dirt loose to get it out and carpet cleaners in my opinion only try and get it off the rug fiber and not the ground in stuff.

For stains, I use the power cleaning attachment for my carpet steamer. For odors, I use eithe Febreze or Nature's Miracle, depending on what the odor is.

What Trogdor said. Remove the seats (a chore the first time, but worth it), spray with Simple Green. Take wet seats to DIY car wash. Blast 'em with pressure washer. You'll know they're "done" when the SG quits foaming. Dry in the sun. Enjoy.
