August 23, 200520 yr Does anyone know of an electrical terminal "green" corrossion cleaner that can be sprayed
August 24, 200520 yr Go to: RADIO SHACK!!! There are two cleaners I recommend... The one that works best is CRAG power booster... it comes in either pen or spray.... both EXPENSIVE, but damn it works good... The other is the generic rat shack cleaner spray in a small, but good sized can. much cheaper... the craig stuff is like $15 for a tiny bottle the RS brand is like $10 for a good sized bottle... the RS stuff works, but have some toothpicks handy to knock off some stuff in the connectors if need be... I havent tried the one with the brush on the top... but it might work too.
August 24, 200520 yr Diet Coke Here a suggestion Go to the nearest Burger King, Order a Whopper Value Meal and then drink a regular Coke because it is delicous and then when done refill your cup with Diet Coke and take it to your car and clean the corrosion away. Use the straw that comes with to spread the diet coke. This should work well, if nothing else you had a delicous meal. But I assure you DC is just what the Doctor ordered. IMO
August 24, 200520 yr Another good thing for cleaning off corrosion is a fiberglass brush. If you can't find one, go to any electronics store (Radio shack MIGHT have them but they probably have to order it) and get an "alignment screwdriver", they are typically about 12" long and have a fiberglass shaft. Cut the very end off the shaft, and then heat it with a burner, this will melt the glue away and leave you with a fiberglass brush. They work GREAT for cleaning small rusty parts, corrosion, etc..
August 24, 200520 yr Diet Coke... is just what the Doctor ordered. IMO The problem with using ANY acid-based (ha ha ha! Chemistry oxymoron!!!) remover/cleaner is that you are just setting the stage for more severe damage. Electricals/electronics should NOT be exposed to acids. Electrical contact cleaner and/or mechanical removal is the best (and only) way to clean electicals.
August 24, 200520 yr drink a regular Coke because it is delicous Truer words have never been spoken, however, i'd reccomend baking soda first, then move on to coke if necessary. no point in bringing out the artillery if all you needed was a clean double tap to the back of the head.
August 24, 200520 yr Or just go down to napa and get some simple battery post cleaner and battery protectant......I dont know that has always worked best for me (minus the yellow and pink stains left on the rag you wipe it down with)
