September 1, 200520 yr I was thinking of trying my hand at making bumpers, lift kits, roof racks, and other miscellaneous (Geez, spelling) subaru accessories. But I would like to test the waters first, see if it is worth it. I would make them available for almost at cost (price of materials) + shipping. So who would be interested, and in what? Thanks. September 2, 200520 yr Author BUMP I noticed there isn't as many people logging onto USMB. Is it because of hurricane katrina? May I say, my heart is with the victims.
September 2, 200520 yr hay, I have been looking for a brush guard and lift kit for the rx wagon im working on, if the engine is ok ( to find out in a couple of days hopefully) those 2 things most definitly, I also want something I saw on a austrailian wagon, a rack for the back gate for the spare, like a suv, nice....room for the IC!
September 2, 200520 yr there is no money in making anything for these old subarus, short of a lift. even then you dont make enough to make it worth it. old subaru owners are cheap, and its hard to pay as much as you payed for the car, for a set of bumpers. just make one off stuff, to impress others. when they ask how they can get one, "say send me some money."
November 4, 200520 yr yeah, I wouldnt want to pay more/less than what I paid for my soob. my wagon was only 200 bucks, my hatch 300. a lift kit from AA or BYB is more than double and still have to install myself, rather make it as I go. though not as many people are able to do so. things like access to tools/shop/materials or the know how is all a factor, rare but not totally out of the picture. so there is a market somewhere. I actually have been thinking the same, only doing custom jobs like making and installing lifts, putting ej's into ea's, F.I. intakes, double carb set-up, or trans swap 4 to 5 speed or 2wd/4wd to D/R... unique and functional items are better off than bumpers roof racks etc., in my opinion.83 wagon 4s/d/r s.t.b. 5 d/r 84 hatch 4s/d/r lift in the works
November 4, 200520 yr I would echo the opinions expressed already. Most of the people on here are cheap (no offense, it can be a good thing). If you do start making stuff and it turns out really well, you may get a few customers here - enough to do it as a hobby but not actually make any real money. (I for one would probably buy stuff like that if shipping wasn't such a huge issue.)
November 4, 200520 yr If you could make some bumpers like the Ausies have, I bet you could sell those pretty well. I haven't seen US bumpers that top the AUS ones. Just a thought (not trying to harp on you American types)
