September 8, 200520 yr Hi Everybody This is Jerry, well i am trying to stuff a LSD in a 5 speed dual range tranny. I removed the LSD unit from the rear housing and the ring gear has 8 bolts on it. Well the ring gear from the 5 speed has 12 bolts on it they don't swap over. I was sure somebody has done this swap over. My question is what set up was used on the change over. Please let me know i need to get this tranny back together. Thanks Jerry

September 8, 200520 yr whats wrong with using the ring gear from the lsd? shouldnt they both be the same size?
September 8, 200520 yr Author Hi This is Jerry, the ring gear is smaller in the rear end than in the 5 speed. The ring gear in the rear end has 8 bolt holes and the 5 speed has 12 bolt holes. Thanks Jerry
September 8, 200520 yr Sorry Jerry, it just doesn't fit.. A few people have torn them down to look, just like what you are doing, but I don't know of a single success in using the LSD chunk in the front diff. Closest thing is a phantom grip.
September 8, 200520 yr http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=700370 This is for the newer generation of trannies, but if it will work for the older ones too...it's a viable option for light duty.

September 9, 200520 yr Author Hey Calebz This is jerry, just what is a phantom grip never heard of it. Let me know Thanks Jerry
