WELL I did something to it:mad:

I was going down a dirt road at night about 35mph and I hit a huge wash in the road and caught some air.

About 3 seconds later I side-swiped a doe, and crushed her back legs:( I backed up just to see her pull herself off the road and into the woods. I hope she dies quickly:( I have no gun to kill her

Now however the Sube won't run at idle. It starts fine and drives OK but at idle it misses and then cuts off:mad:

Any Ideas?

Still sick over the deer thing to

maybe a vacuum leak? So sorry about the deer. One of my most traumatic childhood events involved a deer and a school bus....

Yeah, most likely dislodged a vacuum line or perhaps a connector somewhere. look for loose stuff.

I hit a huge wash in the road and caught some air.

If you insist on 'catching air' then you better start figuring out how to fix everything :drunk:

well, all vac lines look OK .

However I noticed a voltage drop as the car dies. Maybe an electricl problem???

One of my childhood Bus related traumas involved "chain reaction projectile vomiting" ever tried to walk from the back of the bus through vomit soaked floors and seats:D

LOL yep I forget I'm driving a normal car sometimes I had my new Off road lights on and it was a curvy dirt and gravel road, I guess I went "rally" on it;)

I can only emagin the damage thos rally drivers would suffer if they hit a deer at 80 or 90 MPH

Maybe, but it could be that the alternator just cuts out as the engine rpm gets too low. A symtom rather than a cause.

What year is the car? SPFI or carbed?

86 GL 3speed carbed

My old car did the same thing after i hit a deer...what is it with subarus and deer? It turned out that the jolt of hitting the deer dislodged all the crap at the bottom of the fuel tank and sent it into both fuel filters. Replace your fuel filter(s) and see if that helps.

That actual makes sence. I came down pretty hard after hitting the dry wash.

I will check my fuel pressure , and Im sure it wouldnt hurt to change the filters

thanks for all the input :)

There isnt much fuel pressure to check on a carb. pull off the fuel line off the carb and crank on the engine. If fuel comes out when the engine is cranking you are fine. They only run ~3psi

Oh and get rid of that damn 3 speed AT

 why,, its doing just fine,,, considering I have to start out in 2nd Unless I let it warm up for 15 minutes.

Subaru parts are hard to come by here,,,, been trying to figure out if the is a duct tape fix for my tranny :drunk:

Not true. There lots of members in the area. Use the board to get ahold of them.

Milesfox isnt exactly close, but I'm sure he has parts, or knows people around your area with parts.
