Hello Everyone,

I am new to this site and this is my first time posting.

My Outback seems to be having a few problems. I bought the car used with 157K. Up until recently, it ran great, however in the last week it has been idling low and shutting off. But, it would start right back up. Then I went into the store and came back out & it didn't start. So I replaced the battery because it was very hot. No problem it started up.

Since then the check engine light came on & the idle air sensor is malfunctioning and now that is replaced. It still idles down low but doesn't shut off. But sometime when I leave the car set for 15-20minutes it won't start the first time I turn the key. No cranking at all, but after a few turns and alot of please start it fires up.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any information you can give me.

I dont know about the low ideling, but not carnking when hot can be a starter or batery cables. As temp in things electrical increase, so does resistance. It takes more power to turn a hot electric motor then a cold one. Thestarter soleniod is usually the culprit here.

Change the Temp sensor if you do not have the CEL on. If its on get the codes read and go from there.
