88 RX spare tire

Featured Replies

i thought it was only for the AT's (fuse).

I would think with the center diff open (not locked), it would be okay. wouldn't go far though, especially if on the rear, because you'll be putting wear on the LSD clutch plates because of the diff. sized tires....

My roomies 5spd FT4WD (s/r) 5spd has a FWD fuse. But it doesnt do anything.

I guess mick is right, with the open center diff it shouldnt do any harm. But I would put the donut on the front to save the rear LSD

Well that I'd like to see, since the Fulltime 4WD standard transmission is mechanical and not electrical, what would a fuse have anything to do with it.

Shawn, I would advise against driving with odd sized ties on a Fulltime 4WD car. On UltimateRX, I had a full size spare that I was going to carry in the back. Mainly because the modification eliminated the spare tire space in the engine bay.

Thanks Corky, I will start looking for another 14" pug alloy and go buy a tire.

I was thinking UltimateRX had an EJ series trans in it. My 90 Legacy had a donut in the back and was AWD so that is why I was thinking the RX trans would allow for it too.

Shawn, I will five you a heads up before I go to the pull a part next time. There were 2 14 inch alloys there last time.. and soob and pug stuff doesn't move very fast around here.

actually, you can have an odd size tire on one or the other axle, as long as the other tire is the same size as at least one tire on the other axle. , because of the open front and rear diffs.

its having 2 of the same size on one axle that is a different size of both tires on the other axle, that is what will bind up the center diff.

there is a 15a fuse for the 5spd single range in the gl-10, but 4wd button works with it IN

The car in question is A Full Time 4wd not Push button 4wd.. no fuse, no button.

Corky is right on this one(as usual).. the best thing is definitely to get a full sized spare.
