center lamp Q

Featured Replies

how hard is it to put a center lamp in a gen one brat? i know someone has done this before!

I don't know, I know it is easey to put one in a Gen2.

I think they made center lamps for a gen1, can anybody confirm this?

if not you may be able to get one from a gen2, replace the light cover with the corresponding area from your grill.

heres a link about wiring you will need

akira, kinda off topic, but i was checking out your center lamp and saw how rediculously shiny your brushguard is. what is it made of?

Well, when I was messing with gen 1's, I gathered the parts to do the do. There are some serious room considerations. That is not to say it can't be done, but it will require some thought about the bottom mount. It needs to line up, obliviously, with the center of the grille. This ends up lower than the bottom radiator support. I had envisioned making an extension bracket to drop a hole down to catch the bottom of the light bracket. The other problem is the grille is closer to the radiator than the gen 2's. I think that with some consideration it can be done, but it won't be easy.

so it just seems to be a matter of getting the bottom mount squared away and finding out if there is enough depth behind the grill for the motor etc.

Does that sound like the issues were facing?

that doesnt sound hard at all!!! im suprised that more people havent done it! now all i need is an extra grill, anyone got one for a 1980 brat gl?

Yup! and the light and the correct middle piece and the relay and the switch and and and. Can someone say packrat? I think it goes with the territory.
