since the build is 11/79 doesn't it belong in old gen? it's an ea71

 

maybe there should be a category of TRANSITIONAL eras :-p

you are in the right spot! this is where the old skools hang out (ea71, ea63, 360s, etc, ect)

Remember if the build date is 11/79 it's probably MY1980.

11/79 would definately be a 1980 model year.

The new models roll into the showroom in September.

Though it is "Historic", it should go into the genral Old Gen forum, not the Historic (Gen1 and earlier) forum....

Brats up to 1981 model year are Historic.

 

Cars after model year 1979 are "Older Generation" even with an EA71

EA71's after 1979 are "wide case" with a different water crossover,and slightly different air injection fittings.

round = historic

ugly and square = older

No. There are round headlights in the old gen and new gen forums as well ('80-'82 DLs in the Old Gen and '02-'04 WRXes and Imprezas in the New Gen forum).
