March 23, 200620 yr arghhhh! ok now that i got some of my frustration out. heres my story if you dont know it already. 87' subaru carbed ea 82 Blew up my motor. So i got some help from General Disorder. He hooked me up with a free fuel injected ea 82 block that came from a wrecked soobie. carb system bolted right up so the fact that it is a fuel injected motor does not even really matter. Ok so i am now done connecting everything. i go to start it up and it doesnt even crank! so i am thinkin dead battery or starter. cause electrical is not an issue on these carbed ea82 systems. So i go to jump start it with my truck and nothin! and when i went to jump start i wanted to see if it would arch by tapping the two ends of the cables together and there wasnt a arch. so dead battery right? but my dash and inside lights work. and the battery volt indicater says 12amps. So may be its my starter? I know that when my motor blew up it happned in the middle of me trying to start it. So being stupid i kept on cranking on the ignition. so i think i might have burned out my starter... not sure though. What do you guys think? please help. and if its my starter does anyone have a general price for these? I really wanted to start my car today but no luck. may be next time. thanks p.s. what happned to you general disorder? I need your help man.
March 23, 200620 yr Manual tranny? Push it. Yea.. possibly starter, crossed leads? Battery in wrong? Blown main fuse? Hmmm... I am still learning here but just some thoughts. If manual tranny does it roll smoothly when in neutral.. ie not bound at clutch plate and flywheel?
March 23, 200620 yr Umm - did you connect the little black wire to the starter solenoid? There are two wires to the starter - one BIG red wire, and a little solenoid wire that goes to the spade terminal on the top of the starter. As to what happened to me - came home to a busted pipe in the ceiling above my toilet - had to rip out half the drywall to get to it, and then make two trips to home depot, etc, etc. I'm just now mopping up. I saw you called, but I've been knee deep in soaked rags, and plumbing parts all night. GD
