bottom end dilemma

Having blown head gaskets repaired by dealer $$$

ohh 98 sub outback 99k

found bt ex valve

? mistake not doing bottom end

there is ofcourse $$$ issue

typically head gasket replacement is fine, fix the valves if any are damaged.

if the car was abused, driven overheating extensively then there's no telling.

Its a good idea to change the oil. Ifd the blown HG was discovered like most, by over heating, the oil has may have been over heated too, and your bottom end will thank you.

Are you saying burnt or bent exhaust valve?

that was burnt exh valve

first time overheating, changed oil religiously

had car since '01 @25k

not abused, was going fishing easter morning for couple hrs.

started running rough, pulled over very rough, decided to turn back

got 1 mile noticed temp. 1/4 from top pulled over.

flatbed truck driver said he hooked a subaru

sounds like you didn't ever overheat the thing really. new gaskets, have the heads tested by a machine shop and you're golden.

get the engine oil changed at least twice as soon as possible like nipper said in case any coolant in the oil.

"I'm having a blown head gasket repaired by the dealer which is costing me a lot of money.

Ohh my poor 98 subaru outback with 99k miles.

I found bluetooth?

I question the mistake of not doing bottom end?

There is of course the money issue."
