June 1, 20178 yr 3. Very, very ealy EA81's (1980 - *maybe* 81) had no (or at least very, very rare) options for AC, or power steering. So the crank pulley only has a single groove for the alternator belt. All later engines were equipped with the three groove pully for optional AC and power steering.GD my '84 Brumby has a single groove pulley on the crank, a/c wasn't an option in New Zealand back then. ( or for another five or more years.)
April 12, 20187 yr The 06/81 brat I saw at the junkyard today had an EA81, and I have every reason to believe it's the original motor. Double groove crank pulley but no A/C installed. The serial is 281918 Edited April 12, 20187 yr by tylertrend

I would think they'd start counting from 000001 again when the hydraulic engines came out. I agree because my original engine from my 1983 Brat GL with automatic transmission had engine number 191484. It had hydraulic lifters. The replacement engine from a 1981 Brat with manual transmission is 578058 and has solid lifters. They must have started number sequence over with new model engine, although both are EA81 engines.
December 4, 20205 yr I got this car from the original owner, and have every receipt since new. She did not replace the engine (nor have I). mobdro app Regards, authorityapk Edited January 6, 20215 yr by kumarrohan81
