EA82T Head question

Featured Replies

I recently purchased a pair of heads from XSNRG for my 1990 Loyale Turbo, and on the driver's side exhaust port there's a threaded hole that wasn't on my original heads. What is this hole for? (O2 Sensor...):confused:hole9es.jpg

That'd be for the Exhaust Gas Recovery (EGR) pipe.. I'm not quite sure why your old heads did not have this - a 1990 model engine would certainly have EGR - this an older engine? Or maybe someone swapped the heads before using an older engine? Also - you might try posting in the other forum "Newer Generation of Subarus" as they're for 1990 and up cars. We're old farts in here. ;)

Cheers

like they said, EGR. you'll have to block that hole off, but the head is perfectly useable on your motor.

not true. Loyale and other vehicles are included in the "Older Generation Forum" beyond 1990 because they have the older generation EA and ER series motors in them. New Generation forum is for EJ models. The Older Gen forum says Before 1990 Unless Loyale, XT6 etc...for this reason.

Oh right on.. Sorry about the misinformation. :)

Thanks, very helpful. I'll just plug it up and move on.:)

Yup, I went through the same thing. I am going to guess that your old motor if from a CA car (or your car is a CA car). That was my experience with my 88 Turbowagon. No EGR.

I got me a nice pipe plug for mine since my intake is off of a '88 XT which was naturally aspirated so no EGR!
