November 3, 200322 yr the painted dashboard... very interesting the way its turning out... unfortunately, even with the whole new wiring harness (from a 83GL 2wd wagon) it still has no power... do we need the ECU plugged in, for the car to have power with the key on??? (at the moment, ther is no ECU, but the plug is there) http://usmb.net/albums/albuo36/DSCN0905.jpg
November 3, 200322 yr the ecu doesn't have to be plugged in, on my 82 wagon you could unplug the ecu while driving, before starting, or whatever and it still ran great. Hope this helps! Scott
November 4, 200322 yr Author but the wiring is from a 83, which was a big change from 82.... anyone with an 83 want to unplug their ECU and tell me what happens? thanks!
November 4, 200322 yr Second that on the 82. When I had the EA82 in the BRAT it ran much better with the ECU unplugged. At one point the ECU was triggering the feedback solenoid which shut off the fuel supply and the truck would sputter to a stop. I unscrewed it and threw it as far into the woods as I could. It ran fine the rest of the time that the EA82 was in it.
November 4, 200322 yr Uh, you do mean EA81 right?? My 82 Also ran without the ECU plugged in. I don't have my 83 any more, so I can't do that test. Someone else??
